Seniors participate in a meeting with Buzz Aldrin

On January 29, 2019 GSST seniors Noah Wiggins (Poquoson High School) and Brian Chou (Poquoson High School) participate in a Skype meeting with former astronaut Buzz Aldrin.

Their mentor, research directorate Dr. Robert Moses, guides the student research project to plan the construction of a habitat on Mars. Utilizing In Situ Resource Utilization technologies, a base may be erected without the need for humans to be present. The construction would depend on robotic craftsmanship in forming a habitat for future occupation.

Buzz Aldrin is an American engineer, former astronaut, and fighter pilot. As lunar module pilot on the Apollo 11 mission, he and mission commander Neil Armstrong were the first two humans to land on the Moon.
