Center for Autism is a regional public separate school facility  for students with Autism. Referrals to the program come only from our member public school divisions of Gloucester County, Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg-James City County, and York County.

Since 1980, Center for Autism’s caring staff has been dedicated to providing quality services using evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to promote positive student outcomes.

Since 1980, Center for Autism’s caring staff has provided high quality instruction in a structured and supportive educational environment to meet the unique needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Services such as speech therapy, adapted physical education, recreational therapy, occupational therapy, psychological consultation, career education, counseling, and life skills instruction are provided as indicated by individual education plans.

Center for Autism meets the educational needs of a diverse student population. Individualized education plans address Virginia Standards Of Learning, Aligned Standards of Learning, communication/language skills, functional academics, positive behavior supports, and social skills development based on student needs.

The primary goal of the program is to provide the services and accommodations necessary to insure student success in the least restrictive environment.
