Physical Therapy Aide

This course is designed to provide an introduction to the Physical Therapy Profession. Students will explore the principles and practices of therapists in the healthcare industry. Clinical skills enable students to gain an understanding of rehabilitative care, which is practiced throughout the continuum of care and across the lifespan of individuals. Students that enroll in this course will be trained in basic first aid, medical terminology, professional and ethical standards of Physical Therapy, as well as anatomy and physiology, and treatment methods. Tuition for this course includes all required materials, textbooks, and testing fees. After successful completion of this course, students will be able to sit for the National Physical Therapy Aide Certification test through American Allied Health. Upon passing the certification exam, students will be able to apply for a job as a Physical Therapy Aide/Rehab Tech.

Career Day to Day
With a national certification as a Physical Therapy Aide, careers will be available at hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient rehabilitation centers. Physical Therapy Aide duties will cover technical and non-technical areas to include, scheduling appointments, filing paperwork, keeping the therapy area clean, helping transferring, ambulating and caring for patients.
Requirements
Read and write the English language. A high school diploma is required for this program. An ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Please review the certification requirements as listed under the course title.
