Apprenticeship Classes
Apprenticeship programs are offered year-around. For more information on how apprenticeship works and finding employer sponsors, visit the Apprenticeship tab.
Cosmetology
This course has a two semester requirement in order to receive certificate of completion. This class is open to anyone, but in order to sit for your State Board Exam, you will need to be an apprentice for 18 months and complete 3000 clock hours of hands on training.
Electrical
There are four levels Electrical that must be completed by the student in order to receive a certificate of completion. Textbooks are covered in the cost of tuition. Level one students will need to purchase a 2017 NEC book.
HVAC
There are four levels of HVAC that must be completed by the student in order to receive a certificate of completion. Textbooks are covered in the cost of tuition.
Plumbing
There are four levels of Plumbing that must be completed by the student in order to receive a certificate of completion. Textbooks are covered in the cost of tuition.
Medical Classes
EMT
A textbook is required for this class, ISBN #9781284246223. Emergency Medical Technician provides the National & State EMT Certification via the National Registry & Virginia Office of EMS. Background check required. Drug screening may be required for employment
Pharmacy Technician
This course is intended to prepare students to become pharmacy technicians in a retail or hospital setting. Upon successful completion of this course, you may sit for the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT), which is a nationally accredited certification exam for pharmacy technicians offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Criminal background check and TB test results are required. Prerequisite: High school graduate or GED holder.
Dental Assistant
Students will be trained to function as capable entry level assistants in a dental office. This course prepares you to take the State Radiology Safety exam. A criminal background check may be required for employment. Includes book.
Phlebotomy
Students will be trained to function as Phlebotomist. A High School Diploma or GED is required to take this class. A criminal background check and immunization records required. Students must also have a TB test and Hepatitis B vaccination. Uniform supplies required. List can be given upon request. Includes Textbook and National Healthcareer Association certification exam and study guide materials.
Medical Administrative Assistant
This course thoroughly prepares students for the administrative skills medical administrative assistants need to know for the front office topics and skill competencies required for today’s industry standards. A criminal background check may be required for employment. Cost includes tuition, books and National Certification exam. Prerequisite – High School Diploma or GED
Veterinary Assistant
Completion of this course will prepare students for full-time employment as a kennel attendant or a veterinarian assistant in a veterinarian hospital or clinic. It will also provide a foundation for students to enter into the community college system for an Associate’s Degree as a Licensed Veterinarian Technician. A criminal background check may be required for employment. Cost includes tuition, books, and certification exam. Prerequisite – High School Diploma or GED
Technical Classes
Automotive Technology
This course comprehensively explores the automotive systems, their function, relationship, principles, repair and replacement. This is done in a combined classroom/shop setting. To receive a full guide on what is covered in this course, please contact our office. Includes book.
Construction Technology
This curriculum will ground the trainee in the basic knowledge and principles of carpentry, masonry, concrete finishing, electrical work, HVAC, and plumbing. He or she will become skilled in different phases of a project from start to finish. Once completing this course, the trainee will be able to interpret construction drawings; perform quality concrete and brickwork; frame walls, ceilings, and floors of a structure; and install the proper wiring and piping for electrical, and plumbing systems. Includes textbook, OSHA 10, and EPA 608.
Welding
Students must furnish their own welding equipment. A list is available upon request. ARC, FluxCore, TIG, & MIG welding courses are offered. There are 3 semesters offered in a year. After completing two semesters, students will receive 144 hours of training and certificate of completion. Must complete two semesters for a certificate. Student may sit for American Welding Society certification upon request.
