Description

Through an integrated service delivery system, the YWC provides high-quality and diverse services to meet the needs of youth and young adults beginning with career exploration and guidance, continued support for educational attainment, opportunities for skills training and work experience, and culminating with a good job along a career pathway or enrollment in post-secondary education.

Once eligible, an individual may receive one or more of the 14 program elements under the WIOA (depending on the individual’s service strategy)

Education Focused Element:

  • Alternative secondary school services or dropout recovery services
  • Education offered concurrently with workforce preparation and training for a specific occupation
  • Postsecondary preparation and transition activities
  • Tutoring, study skills training, instruction, and dropout prevention

Employment Focused Element:

  • Services that provide labor market information
  • Occupational Skills Training
  • Work Experiences

Well-Being Focused Element:

  • Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling
  • Financial Literacy Education
  • Supportive Services

Potential Focused Element:

  • Adult Mentoring
  • Entrepreneurial Skills Training
  • Leadership Development Opportunities

Transition Focused Element:

  • Follow-up Services (provided by the Hampton Roads Workforce Council)
