Beyond providing direct service to students from the participating school divisions, the Governor’s School mission encompasses developing, modeling, and disseminating best practices in STEM education to a wider audience. Our leadership and outreach activities fall under the following categories:

- College of William and Mary: Working with School Psychology and Counselor Education faculty and graduate assistants to develop resources for faculty and parents on social/emotional wellness
- ODU: Collaborating on entrepreneurship, hosting a competition
- Student Research Mentorships: Collaborating with mentors from NASA Langley Research Center, Jefferson Lab, CNU, Hampton University, College of William and Mary, local hospitals and many other organizations
- Virginia Tech: working with Computational Modeling and Data Analytics (CMDA) faculty to pilot a data science course at GSST
