Mr. Edward “Kip” Eure, is the Director for the Center for Apprenticeship & Adult Training at New Horizons Regional Education Center. Mr. Eure joined this dynamic organization in July of 2018. Mr. Eure manages and directs a faculty and staff that support and drive multiple adult programs and apprentice related instructional courses which support the State of Virginia’s Registered Apprenticeship cohort program sponsors.

Mr. Eure is a native of Hampton Virginia and is a 1992 Hampton City Schools graduate of Kecoughtan High School. Mr. Eure holds an Apprenticeship Degree as a Journeyman Marine Pipefitter from The Apprentice School at Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipbuilding. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a Specialization in Technology Management from Saint Leo University, a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from Averett University, an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership & Administration from The George Washington University, and finally, holds his Virginia Postgraduate Professional Teaching License in Career & Technical Education – Business & Information Technology and School Administration & Supervision PreK-12.

Mr. Eure spent over a decade working in multiple capacities after graduating The Apprentice School. He was a Nuclear Refueling Craftsman on a specialized refueling team for the first Nimitz Carrier Overhaul and Nuclear Refueling in early 2000. From there, Mr. Eure was promoted to Planning as an Engineering Planner for the new class of Gerald R. Ford Carriers which are replacing the mighty Nimitz Class Carrier Naval fleet. Mr. Eure was in charge of managing the plan for reactor compartment engineering drawings. From Engineering Planning, Mr. Eure promoted to the Process Engineering and Excellence department as a Management Analyst. While an Analyst, Mr. Eure utilized Six Sigma and Lean Initiatives to facilitate Lean Event workshops for multiple department Directors, Managers, and other Analysts to remove “Muda” or, wasteful steps, and streamline their management processes. Mr. Eure earned his Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification as a Management Analyst.

In 2007 Mr. Eure followed his real calling and became a public servant as a school TEACHER with Hampton City Schools as a Career & Technical Education Teacher at the High School level. Here, Mr. Eure taught amazing young people and shared his passion of Education for Employment, Business & Marketing Strategies, Business Law, Entrepreneurship, and Economics & Personal Finance to name a few. Mr. Eure also coordinated the highly successful Career Coach program for many of the High Schools in the city of Hampton where collaboration between Hampton’s business community and the schools special education students created real-world work experiences and transitional skills for his students with disabilities. He also served as Head Coach for Soccer and Golf teams for a number of high schools with winning records every year! Mr. Eure volunteered his time for many school functions, served on multiple school leadership teams, was recognized as a Student Champion, and also served as Interim Dean of Student Discipline.

Mr. Eure is a conscientious, passionate, caring leader who enjoys sharing that passion for the trades and skilled training curriculums which enable students to vault over their life barriers and become what they are meant to be –SUCCESSFUL!!!
