ABOUT:
- One-year program for students interested in working professionally with young children
- Earn six dual enrollment credits with Thomas Nelson Community College
- Critical thinking, practical problem-solving, and entrepreneurship opportunities within the field are emphasized
- Practical experiences under the supervision of the instructor are required
- According to “R U College & Career Ready?” Early Childhood Education, growth in the number of childcare workers is expected to increase 14 percent by 2022. Job growth is expected to be 17 percent for day care administrators as more working parents need care for their children.
STUDENTS STUDY:

Steps to advance children’s physical and intellectual development
Positive ways to support children’s social and emotional development
Establishing positive and productive relationships with families
Strategies to manage an effective program of operation
Observation and recording of children’s behavior
Principles of child growth and development
Participation in practical work experiences
PREREQUISITES:
Good academic standing, attendance, and behavior.
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the English Language.
Required to have completed English 10 with a grade of “C” or above.
Have a current Tuberculin skin test.
