Course Description: 

Students in this one year program are preparing for employment as a Nurse Aide/Home Health Aide, and/or for entry into a practical nursing program as well as other health occupations.  Students will receive clinical training in a local long-term care facility.  Upon successful completion of this course, students meeting the standard established by the State Board of Nursing and New Horizons are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program examination to become a Certified Nurse Aide in Virginia.

Course Prerequisites:

Completed 10th grade English with a grade of “B” or better

Completed Biology with a grade of “B” or better and passed the Biology SOL 

TB Skin Test is required 

Clinical experience may require drug testing and Covid19 vaccination and/or testing\

Must be able to lift 50 pounds to safely perform the required duties
