Building Construction Syllabus
ABOUT:
- Prepares for employment as entry level carpenter or construction worker.
- Prepares students to pursue post-secondary education in multiple construction fields such as construction management, design and mechanical fields.
- Employment opportunities strong with 5% to 8% growth with average salary of $42,000 in Hampton Roads
- One Year Program (students can elect to take Building Construction III their 2nd year)
STUDENTS WILL:
Design and build projects
Learn Construction Industry Standards
Estimate jobs
Become certified in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety standards and tool usage
Obtain hands-on building skills
Integrate technology in construction
Learn the importance of safety in the workplace
Pre-Construction planning and estimating.
PREREQUISITES:
Algebra 1 with a grade of “C” or better
English 10 with a grade of “C” or better
