Student Advisory Council

New Horizon’s Student Advisory Council (SAC) is comprised of two student representatives from each class.  Representatives are given the opportunity to participate in designated areas of school government.  Generally, SAC representatives participate in the planning of school events, to include spirit days, and field day.  Representatives are also given the opportunity to share ideas from the student body, vote on projects and initiatives for New Horizons.  Additionally, representatives bring requests, and feedback to meetings, giving the student body a voice and allowing them to take part in the decision making process.

Career and Technical Service Organizations (CTSO’s) enhance Career and Technical Education in Virginia through the co-curricular network of programs, business and community partnerships and leadership experiences at the school, state, and national levels.  Virginia students enrolled in career and technical education courses are members of the local CTSO related to their courses and area of interest and are provided with opportunities to apply academic, technical and employability knowledge and skills necessary in today’s workforce.

Each of these CTSO’s attracts students from different CTE curriculum areas. CTSO’s extend Career and Technical Education in Virginia through networks of programs, business and community partnerships and leadership experiences at the school, state and national levels and provide Virginia students with opportunities to apply academic, technical and employability knowledge and skills necessary in today’s workforce.
